About RPTO
Our Mission
The Riverview PTO (RPTO) strives to connect parents and teachers in a positive, open, and supportive forum in order to provide our children with the best educational support we can provide. We raise funds each year to support classroom learning, reading, extracurricular supplies, after school clubs, sports, and school activities to enhance the education and elementary experience of our children. All parents are welcome to participate in any meetings or events.
Each year we have multiple fundraisers that we organize. All proceeds go towards supporting our teachers and children in the classrooms.
Fundraisers
We sell Pay Back Books (coupon books) to our friends and family each fall. Each book is $20 and we keep 50% of the proceeds. Coupons in the book are for restaurants, activities, groceries and services in the Vancouver / Camas area.
This fun run gets kids working together towards common goals, staying physically active, and supporting their school. 100% of the proceeds goes directly to the classroom. Our kids ask family and friends to support them as they run laps around our building with their peers.
Movie Nights
We try to organise 2-3 Movie Nights per year. We show a movie in the Riverview Gym on a Friday night. We pick a popular kids movie, project it onto the wall and let the kids bring pillows and blankets and watch a movie with friends. The PTO sells concessions (popcorn, licorice and water) as a small fundraiser. Everything in concessions is sold for $1 and there is no fee to attend.
Restaurant Nights
The PTO Partners with local restaurants in our neighborhood to host small fundraisers. Restaurants set a date and a time range and if parents dine during those hours (and mention our school) we get a percentage of the purchase as a kickback. The percentage is determined by the restaurant. We don't expect parents to attend or dine out for each event, but we hope to pick a variety or places that appeal to everyone at some point. Look for flyers coming home with your kids and dates posted in the Riverview Newsletter. There are usually online promo codes listed also so that you can order online for pick up or delivery if that suits your family better.
Family Fun Night
An evening of games, dancing, a photo booth, and a 50/50 raffle. A 50/50 raffle is a quick and simple cash fundraiser. Parents buy as many tickets as they want, and at the end of the night we draw a ticket. The winner takes home 50% of the cash pot raised. The PTO keeps the other 50% to help fund our budget.
